Returning Revenues to the Community
There are many ways to return the revenues raised through parking fees to the community. When in doubt, let the community decide what to do with the money!
Options
Create a Parking Benefit District: a non profit that manages parking revenue
for the benefit of the community
Invest in travel options that give people an alternative to driving
Fund traffic calming and sidewalk improvements that encourage walking
Return all funds raised in an annual "parking rebate" to tax-payers
Repair sidewalks
Plant street trees
Install street furniture
Fund community police patrols
Install better street lighting
Clean streets and sidewalks
Fund business district marketing to attract customers
Create community buy in by allowing residents and or businesses to develop and vote on projects funded by parking revenues
